Back from the Reliance Communication store in Kolkata (Merlin Manor), I don’t have a satisfactory report to present you. I heard from a friend who is a hardcore 3G internet user who says that Reliance 3G is best in Kolkata circle. He has used 3G services of other operators and is a heavy data downloader; personally I know his report is not to be challenged.
So I was frequently checking RCOM’s website for the best available 3G pack and to my mind the 10 GB pack at Rs. 848 (only for Kolkata & West Bengal) was what I was looking for. There were some more ideal packs too.
When I stepped into RWorld, I was surprised when the counter guy suddenly told me upfront that they don’t sell recharge vouchers from RWorld and I’d have to search other local roadside shops for recharge needs. Oh my goodness! What is Mr. Ambani doing with his company in Kolkata? This Merlin Manor RWorld outlet is nearly 15 years old and perhaps one of the first outlets of Reliance in Kolkata city and they don’t sell recharge vouchers from there?
On top of that, they said that the rates have changed from 1st Jan 2012 and that Rs. 848 – 10 GB pack I was looking for doesn’t even exist anymore. Now its Rs. 1002/-
Ooh La La! Is Mr. Ambani asking me to pay Rs. 1002 to a roadside vendor and recharge my Reliance connection? And if recharge fails for any reason, where do I settle scores or do I have to resort to muscle flexing and get my money back from roadside vendor? Nah Mr. Looser Ambani, that’s not how I want my user connection experience to go ahead.
Anyway, jokes apart, Ambani has to really think seriously if he wants good customer feedback and run his company well or let customers run off to a mighty competitor Vodafone. In Kolkata, this Merlin Manor ground floor has Nokia Priority Partner shop in one end, RWorld in the middle, then a ICICI Bank ATM and then immediately to its other end is Vodafone store!
Just a scenario: customer goes into bank’s ATM & withdraws money, goes into Nokia center and buys phone, comes out and visits RWorld and comes out disappointed and ultimately makes himself happy with the superior packages that Vodafone store girls has to offer
Think Ambani, think!
