Headset Vs. Bluetooth

by Kaushik on January 1, 2012

Among many mobile phone accessories, two very important are headset and bluetooth headset. One is wired while another one is wireless. As per starting price, headsets are cheaper but according to brand name as well as quality these can be much expensive also. Bluetooth is costlier and can cost a lot on higher side.

Both these accessories aren’t universal as such. Like, different mobile phones require different diameters of connector pin. Sometimes, the same maker provides phones which require different diameter pins. Like 2.5mm and 3.5mm pins. And in case of Bluetooth, there are technical standards. Some sort of universality should have been better for users, as some users possess multiple mobile phones, it would be easier for them to carry just one piece and operate it with multiple phones.

One big big problem between headsets and bluetooth headsets is that if you want to listen to the FM Radio, your phone just cries for a headset and it will actively refuse to play FM Radio with a bluetooth headset. Why? Because phones use headset’s wiring as the external antenna. So, even if you’ve bought a very lovely stereo bluetooth headset with a lot of cost, its not going to play your phone’s FM Radio. Damn it!

Suppose you’re bored with all the stored music in your phone’s memory card and want to listen to some radio program instead, uh, unplug your bluetooth and attach a normal headset please! Or else, keep getting bored with the music in memory card or simply switch off the music player.

Here, we’d have to wait for the technology to advance more and make some way to play FM radio with some built-in antenna or somewhat like that.
